Kruger Shalati Train
Luxury boutique train on a scenic bridge in the Kruger National Park
1/14
Location
Selati Railway Bridge, Sabie River, alongside Skukuza, Kruger National Park
DESCRIPTION:
Suspended above the Sabie River in the Kruger National Park with jaw-dropping views, the Kruger Shalati Train on the Bridge pays homage to bygone explorers. Occupying the same spot, the first guests stayed overnight in the 1920s. And referred to by the Robb Report as an “insane boutique hotel.” The Kruger Shalati Train on the Bridge re-envisioned as a hotel is a feat of engineering and a uniquely African experience. The 1950s era SA Railways train, repurposed as a luxury hotel permanently stationed on the historically-rich Selati Bridge is a global first fused with cutting-edge luxury and a spectacular nod to a glamorous era of travel.
Whether you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind adventure, an enthralling break or to simply immerse yourself in earth’s finest creations, Kruger Shalati looks forward to welcoming you on a journey of discovery with nature in the most extraordinary way imaginable.
The glass-walled, large train rooms allow for infinite views along the length of the majestic Sabie River while the style of the train is a celebration of African design in collaboration with local art and crafting skills. High above the riverbanks, aligned with the floor level of the train, lies the bespoke deck with an amazing pool, offering a one off swimming experience – with crocodile, hippos, buffalos and elephants greeting guests meters below – a vista unlike any other!
Just as the passengers did in the past, you sleep on the bridge, in carriages that are luxuriously appointed with full panoramic floor to ceiling windows along one side, and a small balcony, and amazing views over the Sabi River and the crocodiles, hippos, buffaloes, and elephants below. The king-size bed, the bathtub in the window, and the shower all overlook the river.
Based in the heart of the iconic Kruger National Park, where nearly 2 million hectares of unrivaled diversity of life forms fuses with historical and archaeological sights - this is real Africa. The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. Kruger Shalati – the train on the bridge is situated just outside Skukuza rest camp, the hub of activity in the Kruger Park.
