DESCRIPTION:
Situated in the Thornybush Game Reserve, within the Greater Kruger reserve, KwaMbili Game Lodge provides an authentic safari experience at an affordable price.
With an unfenced boundary to the Timbavati, which in turn is open to the Kruger National Park, KwaMbili is home to the Big 5 and a myriad of other animals. The game drives with trained rangers and trackers in open 4×4 vehicles will introduce you to the tracks, movements, sights and sounds which give you a window into the African bush. When not on game drive guests can view wildlife from the safety and comfort of the well-positioned hide on the perimeter of the camp overlooking a small waterhole in front of the hide and the KwaMbili dam, a little further away, is also visible from the hide. The lodge swimming pool also allows for views of the surrounding bush alternatively one can just relax in an armchair or enjoy a cool drink at the bar.
Accommodation at KwaMbili consists of large Meru style safari tents and one luxury chalet. The large safari tents are under a thatched roof, protecting them from falling leaves and making them cooler in summer. The roof extends over a small private patio with table and chairs. Each tent has an en-suite shower and flush toilet, electricity and air-conditioning. As the tents are on the outskirts of the camp you will have a full uninterrupted view of the bush from your patio. One of the tents is large enough to accommodate a family of 4 or 5. The chalet is close to the main buildings and features air-conditioning, an ensuite bathroom, mosquito nets over the bed and a small private patio with table and chairs.
Healthy and variety are all part of dining with delicious breakfast options include a full English breakfast with fresh seasonal fruit, yoghurt, cereals and toast. Home-made bread and fresh salads accompany the light lunch at the lodge while dinner is a mouth-watering three-course-dinner affair usually served in the outdoor boma. Tea and coffee are available to guests all day.
Guests have the choice of two safari drives a day, one in the morning (departing at sunrise and returning just in time for a scrumptious breakfast) and one in the afternoon (that leave late afternoon and returns after sunset and in time for dinner.) Both safari drives are approximately three hours long and are carried out by professional game rangers and trackers in open 4x4 vehicles.
