Lion Sands Narina Lodge
Luxury Safari Lodge in a Private Concession of the Kruger National Park
1/20
Location
Private Concession in the Kruger National Park
DESCRIPTION:
The lodge, like the Narina Trogon bird after which it is named, is astonishingly beautiful, yet blends unassumingly into the natural environment. Perched on stilts under a canopy of 100-year-old trees just up from the water, Narina Lodge offers you a wonderful sense of remoteness and peace.
When you’re right on the Sabie River, watching the animals, surrounded by bush and sky, you really feel like you’ve escaped from the world. Within this private concession in the Kruger National Park, you can go exploring off-road, follow in the footsteps of a leopard, track down a herd of elephant, or simply wait for them to come to you.
Lion Sands Narina is one of the lodge’s on the Tinga private concession in the Kruger - 5000 hectares of some of the most abundant game in the entire park and boasting perhaps the highest leopard density in Africa! The concession is also home to a large population of the endangered black rhino and enjoys 30 km of river frontage of the Sabie river and approximately 14 km of the Sand river – this not only makes for stunning physical beauty, but the presence of permanent water attracts a very high concentration of animals.
The nine luxury Suites perch on stilts among 100-year-old trees just up from the Sabie River, and link to a spa sala and intimate lodge via elevated walkways. This shared space is enhanced by natural décor and open design, extending out to generously furnished decks. From here there are views of animals feeding on the opposite bank, and you can engage in the social chatter this inevitably stirs or meditate on the rustle of the leaves.
The Suites are built to afford complete privacy in a wilderness where you can watch the animals come down to the river from your pool and deck, as well as bed and bath. Glass sliding doors and windows open up your sanctuary to the outside, while a romantic canopy bed, sink-into-me couches, an egg bath you can wallow in up to your chin, and a personal bar all add to the delight of being in Africa – in style. Narina Lodge offers exclusive accommodation, with private plunge pools and viewing decks overlooking the river.
Twice daily game drives lead by qualified guides and trackers take place on the private concession exclusively and do not drive into the public part of the Kruger. The Tinga game vehicles on the concession are permitted to go off-road at confirmed Big 5 sightings, ensuring that the game viewing experience competes with the neighbouring Sabi Sands.
